Jury, Judgement and Awards

A – Panel of Judges

The panel of judges are formed under coordination of the Packaging Manufacturers Association, consisting of qualified individuals from specialized subsector associations, whose members are engaged in the manufacturing of packages or pre-packaged industrial or consumer food or non-food products and/or enterprises engaged in the trade of such products, as well as the Industrial Designers Society of Turkey, the Turkish Society of Graphic Designers, companies engaged in advertisement and the media, and specialists from the related departments of universities.

The Panel of Judges will consider each package on the basis of the following features and criteria:

  • Protection and preservation of contents
  • New, original and different, and appealing package form
  • Ease of handling, filling, closing, opening and reclosing
  • Adequate and sufficient marking and information on the package,
  • Sales appeal
  • Graphic design
  • ¬Quality of production
  • Economy in material usage and production costs
  • Environmental sensitivity, sustainability and reusability and recyclability
  • Ingenuity of construction
  • Suitability for successful exhibition at final points of sale

    • B – Judgement and Awards

    Packages are evaluated in two stages. In the first stage, the Panel of Judges selects the "Competence 2012" award winning packages that will be eligible to participate in international competitions, including the WPO WorldStar Competition.

    The grant of the Golden Packaging Awards to the ones selected among the Golden Award winners in Crescent and Stars for Packaging Competition. Besides, the Panel of Judges could select maximum of 3 pieces of Golden Packaging Awards from the selected Golden Awards.

    In the second stage, the Panel of Judges compares the "Competence 2012" award winning packages and decides which of them win the golden, silver and bronze awards.

    Each winner will be presented an award certificate, a specially designed award statuette, a competition logo and a small visual emblem of the award during the awards ceremony.

    The ceremony will be held with an entertainment program on 03 September 2012 at Four Seasons Hotel Bosphorus İstanbul.
